Working from home – how to make it effective?

Working from home effectively, has never been as important as it is right now. We are all stuck in our houses because of the coronavirus and many of us have to be working from home.

It’s hard to be as effective as we were at the office, a change in a working environment affects a workflow.

The ability to manage time on your own is a pleasant benefit of home-office. As opposed to working from your office, you are the one who is responsible for your time-management.

In a way, this freedom feels nice, though, on the other hand, if you don’t organize your time wisely, this freedom could turn out to be detrimental.

Have a schedule

For an effective working process, it’s essential to set a schedule. Ideally, you want it done the night before. Plan out all your daily goals and working hours. Determine what time you want to start working, what you need to accomplish on this day and how long it will take.

In other words, set all your daily goals the day before and follow your schedule.

Always remember, your employer may not know when and how you are doing your job, but they will ask for the results. So, don’t be lazy and do your best to achieve your goals.

Cozy corner

If you don’t have an office in your house, try to set up a cozy work-space. You need space that’s comfortable, where you can feel calm, motivated and concentrated.

For everyone working from home, it’s crucial to have a comfortable chair and a little bit of space for the essentials.

Concentration is equally important

First and foremost, you should try to isolate yourself from family members. In case you do not have a separate room, ask your family to be quiet and let you do your job.

Just like your family, your pets can also get in the way of your working process. So, try to avoid all unnecessary interactions until the end of the working hours.

Turn off all your gadgets that can steal your attention. TV, Radio and even mobile phones are slowing down your working process. Forget about checking social media and non-essential emails.

Don’t overwork

This is an important rule, especially for workaholics, working all day can be harmful to your health. Moreover, it might ruin your long-term plans, because if you overwork today, you may not have enough energy for tomorrow.

Don’t forget to have a lunch break. Make sure to eat healthy food to give yourself more energy. Also, remember that sitting too long is bad for the health of your body, therefore you should get up, move, stretch and take a few steps every hour.

Stop working after pre-defined working hours and enjoy the rest of the day. Communicate with your family, play with your kids and pets, read a book or watch a movie.
