What to watch on Netflix?

Netflix isn’t my go to streaming service. Even though it has a lot to offer, I criticize it for choosing quantity over quality.

In addition, Netflix likes to drop big names into an average caliber movies. For example 90s kids’ favorite actress Lindsay Lohan in the 2022 Christmas movie “Falling for Christmas” or legendary Eddie Murphy and extremely talented Jonah Hill in the 2023 romantic comedy “You People”. I haven’t watched the newly released “Your Place or Mine” with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, but based on its horrible ratings on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, I assume quality was compromised once again.

What to watch on Netflix?

On the other hand, Netflix has so many hidden gems and that’s why I have been one of its 231 million subscribers since 2018. My favorite things to watch on Netflix are Comedy Specials. All my favorite comedians like John Mulaney, Tom Papa, Neal Brennan, Jack Whitehall, and Christina P. have at least one Netflix special and I not only watch but also rewatch their shows frequently.

Besides, Comedy Specials, there are some really good movies that you can find on Netflix.

In order to avoid spoilers, I am not going to talk about the story, plot twists, and things I liked. The only thing I am willing to say is that “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” demonstrates ugly sides of the modern rich and famous.

Netflix Movie N3 – Molly’s Game

Based on a true story, a 2017 crime drama about a girl who had a hard time making ends meet before she became a crucial part of big games.

Jessica Chastain

The story is written by legendary screenwriter Aaron Sotkins. And just like all his screenplays this one is fascinating too.

In addition, the amazing performance delivered by oscar winning actress Jessica Chastain and the sexiest man alive in 2018 Idris Elba turned this movie into something special.

Old, but gold on Netflix

In case you are looking for a romantic comedy, Netflix is suggesting some good old stuff. For example Notting Hill or Leap Year.

Julia Roberts

The first one is a timeless melodrama with iconic Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Even though this film was made more than 20 years ago, it’s still relevant and very pleasant to watch again and again.

The second one is a love story with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode, made 13 years ago.

One more movie to watch

Last not but least, if you like melodramas, I would like to recommend one more movie from Netflix’s collection. It’s a 2018 romance/drama “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”.

The story takes place in 1940s England. It narrates about a young writer (played by Lily James) and her tale of true love.
